Abstract
This study was initiated by the Bridge Branch of the Wyoming Transportation Department to provide direction in optimizing CAD usage. Critical issues in managing computing resources in a design operation are staffing, maintaining, and financing a highly dynamic system. Managing such a system properly requires a global assessment of the current state of operations and the determination of potential areas for improvement. Assessing current practices was done through an interview process in which the Bridge and CAD branches provided comments, recommendations, and insights on the strengths and shortcomings of the CAD system.
