Sowmya earned her Master of Science in Computer Science from the New York Institute of Technology, NY, and her Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science Engineering from SWEC, India. She has over 8+ years of experience in Software Engineering and IT Project Management in the U.S., along with teaching experience as an instructor for the Distance Learning program at NDSU.
As a Senior Software Engineer and IT Project Manager at the Department of Transportation Support Center (DOTSC), Sowmya oversees software development projects, including design, development, task delegation, and mentorship of IT Intern student staff. She ensures that all projects adhere to coding standards and continuously reviews and optimizes development processes to improve quality and efficiency. Additionally, she manages DOTSC servers, handling administration, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance, and is responsible for database administration for the associated applications.
