Fargo Growth Plan

The Fargo Growth Plan was completed in 2007 to provide a guide for development on the growing fringe of the City of Fargo. The Plan is used to make decisions on the future land use regulations, the transportation system, and public spaces.

Jim Gilmour, Director of Planning and Development for the City of Fargo will present information on the process used to develop the plan and give an overview of the plan. The Plan includes future land use maps, identifies public spaces, and provides a guide for the future transportation system.

The Plan works to make Fargo a more livable community, preserves natural areas, provides a city of neighborhoods, creates a safe and sustainable community, provides diverse land uses, and has a multi-model transportation system.

Jim Gilmour, Director, City of Fargo Planning and Development Department

Jim Gilmour is Director of the City of Fargo Planning and Development Department, a position he has held since 1999. The Fargo Planning and Development Department is responsible for City Planning, Community Development, Downtown Redevelopment and Parking, Building Inspections, Housing Code Enforcement, and the city Transit system.

Mr. Gilmour has a Masters Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with a concentration in land use, housing, and growth management. He has a Bachelors Degree in Public Administration from the University of North Dakota.
