Abstract

The Utah State Highway Patrol has developed a training course for police officers on the use of radar guns for speed control. They recommend that all police officers be recertified every year. The objective of this study was to develop a prototype microcomputer based tutorial and certification exam. The training and the exam could be taken by officers in a self-study mode out in the districts, and the results could be electronically transmitted back to the police academy in Salt Lake City. The prototype was developed and is currently being evaluated for implementation.
