Abstract

In conjunction with Xentity, this project is assisting the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) in their support of FMCSA in carrying out the first phase of the FMCSA’s Crash Causal Factors Program (CCFP). The role of BTS in the study is to conduct interviews with carriers, drivers, and witnesses following a crash. The objective of this study is to research, develop, and document processes and procedures for carrying out confidential interviews by producing a comprehensive Interview Protocol for the Crash Causal Factors Program. A supporting objective is to develop outreach materials for the trucking community about the interviews.
