Download High-ResSamuel Matthews, NDSU senior in civil engineering from Elk River, MN, is a member of Theta Chi fraternity where he serves as new member education officer. Matthews is also a member of NDSU’s Concrete Canoe team and volunteers with Seeds of Hope, delivering food to those in need. He has been made the NDSU Dean’s List five times. Matthews was an engineering intern for the City of Big Lake, MN, and is a student design assistant with the UGPTI’s North Dakota Department of Transportation Support Center where he helps develop plans for infrastructure projects. Following graduation next spring, Matthews plans to pursue a career in transportation engineering with a focus on transportation in urban environments. One of his goals is to utilize thoughtful planning to improve transportation networks that enhance the quality of life within communities.
