High-ResBrandon Perry
Perry is a graduate research assistant at Colorado State University working on his master's degree with a research focus on creating a streamlined approach to using unmanned aerial vehicles for inspecting bridges. The approach uses machine learning and image computation techniques. The goal of his research is to develop a decision-making support system to automatically detect damage and document it in a building information model to assist bridge managers and owners in planning repair and maintenance. Perry was the lead author on a paper on the project presented at the 2019 Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board in Washington, D.C.
Perry graduated with honors from Tennessee Technological University in 2016, earning his bachelor's degree in civil engineering. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineering, the Structural Engineers of Colorado Association, the American Institute of Steel Construction, Engineers without Borders, and the Chi Epsilon Civil Engineering Honors Society. He also assisted in creating the on-campus Drone Center at Colorado State University.
