High-ResFrancis Ziegler
Ziegler retired from the NDDOT last November after 42 years with the ND Department of Transportation. During that time, he was Director of the Office of Project Development, West Region Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer (Operations), Construction Engineer, and Project and Resident Engineer. Ziegler was appointed Director of the NDDOT in 2006. Under his tenure as director, the NDDOT maintained high standards of service despite statewide flooding and unprecedented traffic growth as a result of oil development. Ziegler also served as the President of the Western Association of State Highway Officials (WASHTO) from 2011-2012. He has also been active in the Bismarck community, serving as president of the Bismarck Park Board, the Bismarck Recreation Council and the Ronald McDonald House Board. He currently serves on the finance committee of his church.
Ziegler earned a B.S. in civil engineering from NDSU and is a registered professional engineer. He is originally from Zeeland, ND and he and his wife, Jan, reside in Bismarck, ND. They have four children and seven grandchildren.
