Staff Bio
Ihsan Khan is a Traffic Safety Analyst at North Dakota State University's Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute. He is currently approaching the end of his Ph.D. in Transportation and Logistics at the North Dakota State University. His dissertation research focuses on different types of crash data acquisition, statistical analysis, model development, and suggesting preventive measures for reducing serious and fatal injuries in traffic crashes. He has significant experience in traffic crashes, accident analysis, transportation planning, data scrubbing, statistical modeling, and technical writing.
Recent Research Activities/Major Programs of Activity
- Hotspot analysis and machine learning prediction of single vehicle lane departure crashes on rural roads in North Dakota.
- Determining the impact of overtime traffic enforcement activities on seatbelt and impaired driving related serious and fatal injury crashes. Also, the identification of counties with potential to reduce serious crashes in North Dakota.
- Investigation of risk factors in survival among a subpopulation of drivers in North Dakota's 24/7 Sobriety Program
- Investigation of the confounding effects of factors on injury severity for all occupants in fatal single-vehicle rollover crashes.
- Development of a crash prediction model for highway rail grade crossings with respect to contributing factors.
