Research Will Lead to Longer-Lasting Concrete Bridge Decks

Based on recommendation results from University of Wyoming research, engineers at the Wyoming Department of Transportation will be able to specify concrete that resists shrinking and cracking. The result will be longer-lasting bridge decks with reduced maintenance costs. The researchers found that polypropylene fibers and shrinkage-reducing admixtures both served to delay the cracking time.
