GRIT is Featured in Minnesota Transportation BlogPosted: May 8, 2020 UGPTI's Geographic Roadway Inventory Tool (GRIT) was recently featured in the Crossroads, Minnesota's transportation research blog. The blog highlights efforts by UGPTI, with support from the Minnesota Local Roads Research Board, to add a pavement condition forecasting tool to GRIT. The tool allows county agencies to predict future conditions on their roadway networks. The blog is a collaborative effort among MnDOT's office of Research and Innovation, the University of Minnesota's Center for Transportation Studies, and the Minnesota Local Road Research Board. GRIT, available to counties in North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota, allows local road agencies to enter data on roads for storage and review while focusing on construction history, culverts and small bridges, load restrictions and construction planning. The new module automatically updates the Minnesota GRIT database of construction and maintenance history with pavement condition and traffic data collected by MnDOT, requiring no additional effort by GRIT users. In addition, a new Facebook page was recently launched for GRIT users to share tips and ideas. |
