UGPTI Opens Office in Bismarck

Posted: Jun 1, 2007

Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute (UGPTI) is an independent center at NDSU that provides education, research and outreach programs in small urban and rural transportation and logistics to enhance the safety and mobility of people, goods, and agricultural commodities. With the opening of its office in Bismarck, the institute will enhance its ability to provide transportation assistance to state and local agencies and other transportation related clientele across the state.

The UGPTI operates several transportation-focused programs. The most recent program added is the North Dakota Local Technical Assistance Program (NDLTAP), based at the Bismarck office, which provides technical training and information services to cities, townships, counties, states, tribal organizations, and other entities within North Dakota.

"The Upper Great Plains Transpiration Institute has considerable experience in outreach and training activities as well as a long-standing relationship with the NDDOT and other transportation organizations and agencies," notes Gary Berreth, the director of the new technical assistance program. "Opening an office in Bismarck indicates our intention to strengthen our partnership with state and local units of government along with other transportation-related entities for the purpose of enhancing transportation in the state."

Also located in Bismarck are some staff members from the UGPTI's Small Urban & Rural Transit Center, staff members involved in the Rural Transportation Safety and Security Center, staff working with the North Dakota Department of Transportation Support Center, and staff working with UGPTI's Transportation Learning Network.

The UGPTI branch office is located at 515 ½ East Broadway, Suite 101. Bismarck. Contact the office by calling 701-328-9855 or 800-726-4143. Visit the UGPTI website at http://www.ugpti.org/
