Students Present at INFORMSPosted: Oct 30, 2017 Transportation and logistics students Fecri Karanki and Fangzheng Yuan presented their research at the 2017 INFORMS Annual Meeting in Houston, TX, Oct. 22-25. INFORMS is the leading international association for operations research and analytics professionals. Karanki presented a poster titled, "A Spatial Analysis for Airport Congestion." The poster presented research showing that one of the most important reasons for airport congestion is neighboring airport proximity, not just individual airport capacity. In the study, Karanki analyzed the capacity of airports relative to three factors: gate, runway and air space. Yuan presented a poster titled, "Measuring Nursing Home Efficiency Using PCA-DEA Approach." This study employs a robust approach to measure the efficiency of the nursing homes in the Fargo-Moorhead Metropolitan area using two stage analysis consisting of principal component analysis (PCA) and data envelopment analysis (DEA).
