Accuracy Enhancement of Roadway Anomaly Localization Using Connected Vehicles

Posted: Mar 24, 2016

An article by UGPTI researchers Raj Bridgelall and Denver Tolliver was recently published in the International Journal of Pavement Engineering. "Accuracy enhancement of roadway anomaly localization using connected vehicles" describes development of a method to estimate and remove localization errors from data collected by connected vehicle sensors. Using the GPS sensors and accelerometers aboard connected vehicles offers a lower cost alternative to identifying roadway anomalies such as potholes and broken pavement while also increasing the frequency and span of coverage over existing methods.
