United States Code (USC)

A compilation and codification of the general and permanent federal law of the United States. The Code is maintained by the Office of the Law Revision Counsel of the U.S. House of Representatives. Only general and permanent laws are codified. The Code does not usually include provisions that apply only to a limited number of people or for a limited time, such as most appropriation acts or budget laws, that apply for a single fiscal year.
