An electric railway with a "light volume" traffic capacity. Streetcars are public vehicles operated on rails along a regular route, usually through the streets of a city. It may use shared or exclusive rights-of-way and have high or low platform loading. Streetcars are categorized as light rail vehicles and may also be called trolley cars, trolley buses, or tramways.
