Term Description

A document which an organization posts to elicit bids from potential vendors for a product or service. It announces the project, describes the scope of work and the criteria to be used by potential contractors in developing proposals. It also includes an outline of the evaluation process. An RFP is part of an organization's procurement process, which begins with an assessment of needs and ends with delivery and/or support of the finished product or service.
