Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP)

A plan prepared by a Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) detailing their 20-year vision for transportation in the metropolitan region. These plans must be updated at least every four years in air quality non-attainment areas and at least every five years in attainment areas. Projects in the LRTP must be cost-feasible, meaning the region must have available funding sources to pay for the improvements. The LRTP's development must incorporate extensive technical analysis, cost feasibility studies, stakeholder input, policy debate, and public involvement.
