Improved Travel Time Predictions on Disrupted Networks will Improve Emergency Response and Decision Making

Posted: Aug 23, 2022

Urban traffic networks are essential to emergency response and recovery, but current traffic simulation models do not adequately address partially blocked roads and other traffic disruptions that may result from disasters and emergencies. Researchers at Colorado State University are developing ways to enhance those models to make them more accurate when highway arteries are partially closed. The models will help improve planning, emergency response, and other critical decisions that rely on accurate travel time predictions.
