Joe DeLorenzo

Joe DeLorenzo is the Acting Associate Administrator for Enforcement for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and the Director of the Agency's Office of Enforcement and Compliance. Mr. DeLorenzo is responsible for policy and program development and implementation for the Agency's enforcement and compliance programs, including oversight of the passenger carrier, household goods, and hazardous materials programs for FMCSA. In addition, he directs the Agency's Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program grants, Commercial Driver's License and North American Borders programs. Most recently, Mr. DeLorenzo has led the Agency's successful implementation of the new Hours of Service regulations, the Electronic Logging Devices mandate, the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse, the Crash Preventability Determination Program and the new Hours of service rule Mr. DeLorenzo manages an annual budget of $15-20 million and grant funds of $380 million and manages a staff of 60 employees.

Mr. DeLorenzo has been with FMCSA for almost 30 years, including 17 years working in field operations in a variety of positions. Prior to assuming his current Office Director position in headquarters, he was Director of FMCSA's National Training Center, where he was responsible for the delivery of a wide range of training courses for Federal, State and local law enforcement agencies in the areas of commercial motor vehicles, hazardous materials safety, security, criminal interdiction and professional development. In addition, Mr. DeLorenzo provided training and education related to Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety and Security across North America, Europe and Asia. As a result of his extensive experience, Mr. DeLorenzo is an expert on the Agency's regulations and programs and routinely represents the Agency with the Senate, Congress and industry stakeholders.
