Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the current traffic circulation and pedestrian safety conditions, identify safety issues, and propose methods for addressing these issues for the Ben Franklin, Kelly, and Viking Elementary Schools. Field data revealed some unsafe practices related to school access, traffic circulation within school grounds, and parking. Several short- and medium/long-term improvements were identified to improve pedestrian safety and traffic operations.
