Title:Nokomis St. Evaluation: Alexandria, MN
End Date:January 2003
Status:Completed

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to assist MNDOT in developing effective traffic operation strategies for the Nokomis St corridor in Alexandria, MN. The study was motivated by concerns about side street traffic operations, especially at the intersection of Lake View Avenue and Nokomis St. Field data were collected for several intersections, covering the morning and afternoon peak periods. ATAC's Traffic Data Collection System was used for obtaining traffic delay, traffic counts, and video surveillance data. A traffic signal warrant analysis was conducted for the Lake View Ave intersection. In addition, several traffic control strategies under various traffic volumes along the corridor were evaluated using the CORSIM traffic simulation model.
