Applications of the Data

Significant changes in the demographic makeup of North Dakota are projected to occur between 2000 and 2025. Statewide, the number of seniors and disabled in the state are projected to increase tremendously over the period, while the number of enrolled students age 5 to 19 falls. To make the most of the limited resources available to provide transportation to these traditionally mobility-challenged populations, managers of agencies that provide local transportation, individuals with oversight responsibility of these organizations, and policymakers need to determine what types of service will best meet the needs of these groups. The size and distribution of the populations projected in this study should help the decision-making process.
