Operations Analysis and Optimization of Dubai Taxi Services

Dubai Taxi Corporation, a subsidiary of the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, has provided transportation services that have played a major role in the development, growth and prosperity of Dubai. With a focus on comfort, customer care, safety, and excellent service, Dubai Taxi Corporation provides a modern taxi fleet on par with the highest international standards for providing excellent taxi service to all segments of society. To meet competitive pressure from ridesharing enterprises and other transportation network services, Dubai Taxi is looking at technology applications and other approaches to optimize its operations and dispatching.

Collaborating researchers at NDSU and UMS will:

  • Analyze, model and simulate the operations of Dubai Taxi.
  • Identify and propose innovative modifications to dispatching and operations that will reduce passenger wait times and empty taxi times. Modifications will include improved algorithms for taxi routing, pricing, and customer demand predictions.
  • Develop a prototype model to simulate cost efficiencies and benefits of the proposed modifications.
